ABSTRAC：Rheometers perfoml measurements to detennine the visco-elastic properties of defomlable materials; on-line rheometers perfoml this task on materials while they are still being processed. These timely resultscan be very useful in quality and process control applications. Polymers, however, present specialdemands on rheometers due to the high temperatures, pressures and viscosities encountered in theirprocessing. An overview of high-pressure process capillary rheometers is presented with an emphasis onhow these instruments differ from their laboratory counterparts.
